Psalm 23 Poster

Project type

Poster

Date

February 2024

Size

13"x19"

The poster of Psalm 23 was influenced heavily by the work of Carin Goldberg in an attempt to replicate her style. The main elements of her work that I incorporated into my piece include overlapping collaged elements, hand-drawn images, and muted colors with limited bright spots of saturated red. I used the typefaces Six Hands and Providence Pro, both of which have the blocky, handwritten quality of the typefaces that Goldberg utilized. I used the symbolic images of a lamb and shepherd’s crook along with non-representational collaged images on a dark, chaotic background to evoke a foreboding mood. The heavy, jagged black that takes up nearly one third of the composition symbolizes the “valley of the shadow of death” yet it has a warm, bright lining, representing the hope that is found in the Lord. I chose to include only excerpts from Psalm 23 to invoke deeper thought about the well-known Psalm.
